About Little York

Our Story

Raising Ragdolls since 2013 · Little York Ragdolls since 2019

Our roots

The meaning behind our name

Toronto was once known as Little York. It feels especially fitting to our family: we live on a street that shares the name. My husband was born in Toronto, and all five of our children were born and raised here. This city is part of our story.

Our family

Who we are

I'm Gail Willetts, and I began raising Ragdolls with my daughter in 2013. When she married and moved to the USA in 2018, we each started afresh separately. Little York Ragdolls began in 2019. We care deeply about raising traditional Ragdolls with the health and gentle character families love.

Owner & breeder

Meet Gail

Our family has been raising Ragdolls since 2013. Little York is our home-based cattery, founded in 2019, and every kitten's beginning is personal to us.

At home

How our kittens are raised

Our kittens grow up in a dedicated room in our family home. We handle them many times every day, and our grandkids love coming over to play with them. Kittens stay with their mom and siblings until 12 to 13 weeks, never leaving before 12 weeks.

Our commitment

Care from the beginning

We DNA-test every breeding cat through Wisdom Panel and provide a written contract for every kitten. Our kittens come with a 2-year genetic health guarantee and a 72-hour health guarantee; full terms are in the contract.

We consider declawing unethical and ask that our kittens never be declawed. We want every one of them to join a loving, lifelong home.

Wisdom Panel

Genetic health testing

Every breeding cat is DNA-tested through Wisdom Panel, which screens for 40+ genetic conditions. For Ragdolls, the panel includes HCM (Ragdoll variant, MYBPC3 R820W), PKD1, Pyruvate Kinase (PK) Deficiency, genetic blood type (A/B/AB), MDR1 medication sensitivity, and genetic diversity.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our family and our cats.
