Growing up at Little York

The Kitten Journey

Those first 13 weeks shape who your kitten becomes. Here's what life looks like for them, and for you, along the way.

Birth to 3 weeks

Newborn

What your kitten is learning

Eyes and ears begin to open around 10 to 14 days, and the first wobbly steps follow. Mostly, these weeks are about warmth, milk and mom.

What we're doing

We keep the family close and comfortable in their dedicated room in our home, and we handle each kitten gently every day. From 2 weeks, you can contact us directly about a deposit; deposits open to everyone at 3 weeks.

What you can be doing

Send in your application and get to know our policies, so you're ready when kittens are listed.

3 to 6 weeks

Little explorer

What your kitten is learning

First playful pounces, early litter habits and plenty of tumbling with siblings. Confidence grows a little every day.

What we're doing

We handle the kittens many times a day and our grandkids love to come and play with them. At 4 to 5 weeks we list them on Available Kittens, identified by their parents' initials plus a kitten number.

What you can be doing

Watch Available Kittens for new listings. When you find your kitten, a $600 non-refundable deposit by Interac e-Transfer reserves them, and updates begin from reservation onward.

6 to 10 weeks

Personality shows

What your kitten is learning

Real play begins, litter habits take shape, and each kitten's own personality starts to shine through. Everyday household sounds become familiar.

What we're doing

More family time, more handling, and the first of two sets of core vaccinations, along with deworming. They keep learning from mom and their siblings all the while.

What you can be doing

Enjoy your updates, and start setting up a quiet room and supplies at home so your kitten has a soft place to land.

10 to 13 weeks

Ready for home

What your kitten is learning

Confident, curious and well socialized, your kitten is nearly ready to leave the only home they've known.

What we're doing

A second set of core vaccinations, more deworming, and a final healthy-kitten check by a licensed veterinarian. Kittens go home at 12 to 13 weeks, never before 12, with their health record, written contract and take-home kit.

What you can be doing

Plan pick-up at our Toronto home within 3 to 5 days of your kitten being ready. Coming from farther away? Ask us about a Pearson Airport meet-up or a flight nanny.

After go-home

Once they're home

Our support doesn't end at the door. We're always here for advice as your kitten settles in. For any health concern, contact your veterinarian first, then reach out to us with their records if it may be covered by the guarantee. TICA registration papers follow once we receive proof of spay or neuter.
